2-channel Tube Preamp Pedal with Cabinet Simulation, 2 Footswitches, MIDI, DI Output, Effects Loop, and Headphone Output

High-gain, Floor-based Guitar Preamp

The Two Notes Le Lead electric guitar tube preamplifier pedal is engineered to move your electric guitar rig to the floor.

This tube-driven device boasts two independent preamps that are foot-switchable and can also be blended together to taste. These preamps get their sound from modern high-gain amp tones.

A free download of Wall of Sound III speaker simulation software gives you the high-quality sound of a full guitar rig, and there is a ton of I/O on-board the Le Lead preamp pedal for MIDI, running direct, headphones, and so much more.

Features:

  • Fully featured tube electric guitar preamp pedal
  • Designed around the sound of high-gain lead tones
  • 2 blendable preamps are fully foot-switchable
  • Free Wall of Sound III software for cab and mic emulation
  • MIDI in and out
  • Effects loop for patching in time-based pedals
  • DI output
  • Unaffected Thru output
  • Headphone output for silent practice

Dual independent high-gain preamps

The heart and soul of the Le Lead are the two fully independent and footswitchable tube preamps.

These preamps are voiced to give you the character of modern high-gain amplifier tones. Preamp A goes from clean to a touch-responsive crunch, while preamp B adds more grit to the sound to get the tone of popular high-gain amplifiers' tight low end and searing distortion.

The two foot-switches let you select either sound or blend them together to taste in Fusion mode to pile on even more gain that can take you into fuzz territory.

Wall of Sound III

Along with these great-sounding preamps, you'll receive a free download of Two Notes' Wall of Sound III speaker-cab simulation software.

Highly regarded in the industry, you'll be able to send Le Lead's tones direct to the board with the benefit of your choice of simulated speaker cabinets, microphones, and tube power amplifiers.

Wall of Sound III also lets you mix and match cabinets and microphones, and position the mics to get your optimal tone. Running into an amp live? Just push the SPKR SIM button and defeat the simulation.

A powerful set of I/O options

The Le Lead preamp pedal boasts enough I/O to integrate easily and quickly into even the most complicated of electric guitar rigs. An effects loop lets you place your time-based stompboxes after the preamp.

The DI Output is optimal for sending your signal direct to the board for live performance or recording. MIDI in and out are perfect for control of external devices. And the Thru jack sends your unaffected signal to an onstage amp if you choose.

An 1/8" headphone output lets you get all of this power while silently practising.

Le Lead’s Channel A shines on the fusion of a clean to slight crunch tone of a perfect melody.

Kicking in Channel B unleashes the fury of a super tight modern high gain amp, enhanced with the powerful mid sweep EQ.

Hot Fusion takes it all over the top; huge gain, sustain and with the combined EQ’s, everything from metal to all out fuzz at your fingertips.

Will you be able to master its strength?

The concept

The selection of a preamplifier is the core of your overall tone and thus requires the greatest attention. When building a complete floor rig, only the very best will make the cut.

The Two Notes preamplifiers are a True High Voltage Design running internally at 200 volts to preserve the interaction between you and your guitar while working perfectly with your other effect pedals.

Each of the four different versions deliver the unique tube warmth, dynamics, and the musical compression from the amps we know and love, now in a more convenient pedal package.

And, of course, you can use them as an elaborate tube overdrive, in front of your favourite amplifier!

Two channels plus Fusion mode

The A and B channels are totally independent, each with their own voicing and eq section: Bass and Treble on A, Bass, Mid with Mid Sweep and Treble for B.

On Channel A you will find a lower gain tube stage with a pre-gain EQ using a more vintage design approach, while Channel B offers more gain and a very powerful post-EQ (with mid sweep).

The exclusive Fusion modes open new horizons.

Cold Fusion

In “Cold Fusion”, the two channels are in parallel, meaning you can blend the cleaner sound from A and your more distorted sound in B to gain clarity and articulation.

Hot Fusion

In “Hot Fusion”, A and B are cascaded, meaning A can be used as a boost for B with both A and B EQ’s available to shape the result.

Switching & Multi-channel mode

Each preamp features 2 channel footswitches, A and B. Simultaneously pressing A and B will activate the Fusion mode.

Pressing A, B or A and B will also send a specific Midi Program Change command, that can be used to select a preset on your Midi multi-effects and/or Torpedo C.A.B. M.

In addition, the preamplifier may respond to a Program Change sent from another Midi device allowing a seamless integration into any pedalboard switching system.

Combining several Two Notes preamps on your pedalboard makes things really interesting.

Connected via Midi, each preamp will listen to the others. They can be configured in Multi-channel mode: pressing A on preamp 1 will bypass preamp 2, like the channels of an amplifier.

Alternately, when this mode is off: traditional on/off switching for all preamps, a preamp can be a boost/overdrive for the one that follows.

Applications:

Connections

schema-preamps-1.jpg

Le Lead can be used in various configurations: as a traditional preamplifier, it can be connected to a power amplifier and cabinet, or in the Return input (or Power Amp In) of a guitar or bass amplifier.

Placed before an amplifier, it acts as a boost, overdrive or distortion pedal.

Alone or with the Torpedo C.A.B. M, it can also be an autonomous system, light and small, ready to be directly connected to a mixing board on stage as well as in the studio.

By simply plugging your headphones, you can play silently.

Connect it to your sound interface for perfect recordings using Wall of Sound.

MIDI:

5 basic functions can be accessed through MIDI Program Changes (PC) sent by an external MIDI device:

  • Canal A
  • Canal B
  • Cold Fusion
  • Hot Fusion
  • Bypass

In other words, your Le Lead can receive a MIDI PC asking for bypass or channel switch. Any MIDI message received will be transmitted to the MIDI output (MIDI Thru function).

When using Le Lead as a MIDI controller, you will be able to send a MIDI PC to trigger preset changes on another MIDI device, such as a Torpedo C.A.B. M or an FX unit.

Le Lead comes with a 16 cabs license for Wall of Sound

Wall of Sound (WoS) is a speaker and miking simulation plugin. A plugin is a software you can load on a track of your sequencer, such as Cubase, Logic, Pro Tools, Reaper, inside your Digital Audio Workstation.

With your Le Lead, Two Notes gives you access to 16 virtual cabinets you can load in our award winning Wall of Sound plugin. With your Le Lead and WoS you have the best configuration to record amazingly good guitar or bass tones for all your musical projects.

To download your 16 cabinets, register your product on the Two Notes Website, download and install the Wall of Sound (WoS) plugin. You will be guided step by step through the process.

Once you have become familiar with the sound and operation of the Wall of Sound plug-in, please feel welcome to explore the in-app Two Notes Boutique which will allow you to audition and have the option to purchase additional cabinets.
